International Day of Persons with Disabilities – December 3

General Assembly of the United Nations proclaimed the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) in 1992.

IDPD promotes the rights of persons with disabilities and initiatives improving their well-being and social participation. Social disputes and cultural events associated with the Day aim at increasing of awareness of special needs of persons with disabilities in political, social, economic and cultural life.

The leading theme for this year’s IDPD is “ Transformation towards sustainable and resilient society for all ”. Persistent inclusion and enabling creativity of persons with disabilities is an important goal in the development of modern society. Acting towards better health and better participation of persons with disabilities are core tasks of PRM physicians. Multiprofessional teamwork is inscribed in PRM practice.
